I saw that my candle had almost went out. I had made a candle to cleanse my home my property and everyone in it about 2 weeks ago. I charged it in a full ritual Circle. This thing already had a ton of energy to it and I charged it every day since. When I lit it, it was fine and the flame was fine. When I added sea salt to it it was still fine. When I added sage to it it was still fine. After all they both are flammable. But as time progressed the flame got weaker and weaker and that was in a short period of time. I looked over again and the wick was just a tiny ember. It was then I started adding more energy to it and enchanting it again and charging it with my energy to do the job more strongly. After a little work the flame came back and it hasn't been just an ember since but a nice burning and flickering flame. It's removing the blocks!
You see, the the candle knows! When you enchant something with your energy and charge it, it becomes alive and it can and does respond to you. It will also show you things.
A candle itself holds all four elements: earth, air, fire, and water. The wax is the Earth. The flame is the air in fire. The water is within the wax and the structure that's used to make it. I then added more Earth with the ground sage and sea salt. I added more air by chanting. Earth and oxygen should have gave it what it needed to burn brighter, not dimmer.
Your own knowledge of the candle actually knowing what's going on within the spill that you're doing or the situation that you're using it for, whether that be for candle magic, scrying, or otherwise, is very helpful knowledge. If you know how to read what the candle is saying to you then you're working will have more power and a better chance at succeeding.
A dim or weak flame, or a candle that keeps going out like mine almost did only leaving the small ember is a sign that someone is working against you presently and actively. A weak flame could also mean that there is an energy block and your spell is not working. In that case, re-energize the candle and charge it again, then try again. Keep doing it until the candle itself tells you that you are succeeding with the power of its flame.
In the situation where the candle magic and the energy is blocked I wave my hand over the top of the candle but not so much as to put out the flame and I chant repeatedly, "Unblock, unblock, unblock!" And I do that until the flame comes back strong. During this you want to be visualizing and recharging the candle with your energy.
